What are Brand Guidelines?
Brand Guidelines are a set defined rules and standards that communicate how your brand should be represented to the world no matter the context. They help to ensure consistency and demonstrate who the business is, what it does, and what it stands for. Think of it like a brand rulebook.
Brand guidelines will usually include?
- Information about your brand’s history, mission, values, and vision.
- Logo use including the colour palette, relevant file formats, min / max sizes, contexts, spacing and how it should appear.
- Colour palette including RGB and CMYK codes.
- Fonts and text sizes (both for print and online).
- The tone of voice and any rules regarding grammar.
- Types of imagery, any design features, icons and photography to be used
- Often includes basics such as business card, letterhead and web header designs.
